Matt Lindquist made his way into the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) business the way many do – by being in the right place at the right time. Just by sheer luck, his future wife had a friend who was working for a PEO in the area called Epix. Matt was getting married and he needed a job, so he accepted a position there in a client management role, where he met Jeff Hecht. Several years later, after Epix was acquired by Gevity, Matt and Jeff decided to take their working relationship to the next level to start a new venture. SourceOne Partners was born.
As a Principal at SourceOne Partners, Matt has enjoyed many years of helping small to mid-sized businesses navigate through the choppy waters of payroll and employer group benefits. He especially enjoys working with a wide range of people and helping find payroll solutions that make good business sense. This appeals to his adventuresome side.
Matt says, “What I love most about the business side is that every day is something new and there is not always the same routine. It’s not your typical 9 to 5 job.” Matt adds that, “While finding solutions to client problems or issues can be stressful or frustrating at times, (after all he deals with benefits and paychecks) it’s also highly rewarding to be able to get the right answer for the amazing clients we serve!”
The clients that Matt has the privilege of working with include leading sound and video engineering companies (note: one of his client’s produced the popular eTrade commercial with the talking baby), trailer leasing companies, law firms, dental offices, fitness centers, accounting firms, and financial planners. He also serves clients in the stone and marble business, transportation, auto body, and realty agencies – just to name a few. He covers a vast territory in the Northeastern United States too, with clients located in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
Matt loves the ability to have a flexible career, as he’s never tied to his desk and enjoys time out on the road, too. This flexibility is especially important to Matt because he has a busy family life that includes two active children, a son, age 10, and a daughter, age 7. He also considers himself to be a “huge soccer junkie” because he plays on three adult teams and also coaches both of his kids’ soccer teams. When he is not working, he often hits the slopes, skiing with the family.
When it comes to his work in payroll services, Matt finds reward in connecting with clients and making sure they stay compliant and have the resources to keep their employees happy and productive. Like many of the clients he works with, SourceOne Partners is a small company, so from this perspective he understands the unique challenges they face. Matt’s main focus is on selling to his clients based on service, not on price alone. In the eight years he has been with SourceOne Partners, he has made it his personal goal to provide above and beyond service, making himself available by mobile phone to clients around-the-clock and always striving for excellence in customer care. Matt’s philosophy is to “be the best” in terms of payroll service.
