I need to get a workers’ compensation certificate from a PEO, ASAP. Will they send me one before I run my first payroll with them?

Generally, the PEO will want to secure payment of the first payroll including the workers’ comp premiums in order for them to generate a certificate of coverage. However, many PEO companies will charge an additional fee or ask for a deposit towards the cost of running the first payroll in order to issue a certificate in advance of running the first payroll.
